About Maile Giffin
Maile has been dancing since the age of five, first training as a Ballet dancer. Moving back to Hawaii where her family is from she studied Hula with Kumu Hula Shirley Kanemura Recca and was a regular performer in Waikiki for 5 years. She brings years of experience and passion for Hula Kahiko (all ancient styles of Hula) and Hula Auana (Modern Hawaiian Dance).
Upon her return to New Zealand she joined Halau Hula O Kahelelani No Aotearoa under tutor Deedee Aipolani Nielson and Mana-O-Hula, an all-female Polynesian dance troupe performing dances from the south pacific and Hawaii.
